I tend to have problems finding the right shampoo and conditioner that will go with my hair and skin type. My hair is relatively fine (asian hair) but curly, and I have a lot of it, so my hair can get kind of frizzy and dry if I don't use a lot of products. That ends up making it oily faster. I usually switch out my cheaper shampoos every few months because my scalp will get more dry. I've read reviews about this shampoo and thought I would try it. So far, it's been pretty good. I like the smell of lavender, and the minty scent is a bit strong, but not unbearable. The tea formula keep my scalp moisturized yet, not too oily. The lavender has also helped me sleep like a baby, it's very soothing!
There is another scent that I actually like more (lemon sage) that I ended up buying at a beauty supply store. It has a softer scent with sage, rosemary and lemon. My bf likes Aveda's rosemary mint shampoo and I liked that one until I tried this paul mitchell brand which is much less runny. It might be me, but there is something about having more lather that makes me feel like my hair is more clean =P
(For those of you who don't mind generic, Sally Beauty Supply sells a "generic" version for about 1/2 the retail price $7/bottle. However, the smell is a LOT stronger, and the formula is a bit more runny. Seems to do the same trick though)I'd say if your hair wasn't too extreme in dryness or oiliness, you could go for generic and save yourself some money.
The beauty supply stores also sell a 16 oz size, which I think would be a better size than 10 oz (too small) or 33oz (too big). I haven't seen amazon sell that size yet. That's just my preference though
I wanted something for my very dry ; itchy scalp. my stylist told me paul mitchel now has a lavender mint tea tree. Growing up my mom used the paul mitchel tea tree ; I used to love how it tingled ; cooled my head. Sadly, as this shampoo IS wonderful, smells lovely ; makes super soft hair...there is no tingle or cooling feeling. I still would recommend this shampoo to anyone b/c it really makes your hair very soft ; managable. I have tried MANY products and I have a hard time sticking to one thing when it comes to my hair. I have frizzy thick red dry hair and it seems like every week a new product comes out that promises to do wonders for my hair. What i've found works best is using this shampoo/conditioner set ; then putting coconut oil in my hair as a product.
